DRAMATIC SOPRANO and VOICE TEACHER

Teaching Beginners and Advanced Students, Youths and Adults

emphasizing

The technique I use includes the fundamentals of breath management, tone, resonance balancing, evenness of scale, smooth legato lines, range extension, stamina, versatility, agility, and flexibility. Healthy, 'free' voice production and vocal care are essential to being able to sing well, and they are the focus of my teaching. This method encourages my students to sing properly and skillfully, without damaging their voices. In addition, my lessons teach students the ability to listen critically, observe carefully, and be able to analyze technical issues.

During the first lesson, I will sit down with you to establish your goals. This initial meeting will help me set a path for your lessons. I will work with you to help you get to the next level. I may ask you to sing a few scales in order to get a feel for your initial abilities and to let me know where our focus should begin in order to maximize your natural voice.

"I have rarely encountered a Soprano with greater beauty, distinction of style, and serious musicianship."
- Maestro George Schick, Metropolitan Opera

"I studied with April Evans on the side of my studies at the Manhattan School of Music. Ms. Evans has helped me enormously in my understanding of singing technique, breathing, singing line, phrasing and expression during the song, aria, or operatic roles. Thanks to Ms. Evans’s teaching, I started getting operatic roles in NYC and in Europe. Ms. Evans has a very deep and refined understanding about singing technique and she has the talent to transmit it to her students. I would highly recommend her as one of the top singing teachers in the operatic business worldwide."
– Josep Viader

"The Soprano Evans is a highest element that merits every encouragement for her highest vocality, musicality, and intelligence."
- Pasquae Zara, Teatro alla Scala

"During our L’amico Fritz performance I heard the very beautiful color of her voice sustained by a secure technique that supports her singing with color, warmth, and vibrancy."
- Ferruccio Tagliavini, Tenore

"The American soprano April Evans has achieved a personal success for her polished diction and fluidity and the brilliance of sound beginning with the "romance of flowers" in the first act and ending with the love duet with Fritz in the third, moving through the beautiful expression of lyric poetry and the "Cherry Duet." Evans reveals all of herself in the stage setting, her own personality, femininity, and heady sense of drama."
